IDsport - The Federation of Sports for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities was created in early 2022, the main activity is the development and popularization of sports (swimming, tennis, cycling, athletics, table tennis, basketball) for persons with intellectual disabilities.

Virtus is the recognized International Organization for Sports for People with Disabilities (IOSD), which regulates the qualifications of athletes with intellectual disabilities, elite competition and sport development.

Virtus aims to become more involved in the Paralympic movement through the quadrennial Virtus Global Games in the year leading up to each Paralympic Games.
As the only Virtus member in Central Asia, we are proud to contribute to the global mission of promoting inclusivity in sports. This championship is more than just a tournament: it’s a powerful reminder that every athlete has the potential to shine.

We are excited to announce that Kazakhstan will host the 2025 Virtus World Tennis Championship - a celebration of talent, determination, and the incredible journey of athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Located in the heart of Kazakhstan, Astana is a city that showcases a unique blend of history, modernity, and cultural diversity. Often referred to as the "Pearl of the Steppe", Astana offers a captivating atmosphere that leaves visitors in awe.
Astana's skyline is dominated by futuristic architecture, with iconic landmarks such as the Bayterek Tower and the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center. These architectural marvels symbolize the city's ambition and rapid development. The city's wide boulevards, adorned with beautifully landscaped parks and gardens, create a harmonious blend of nature and urbanization.
The Ishim River flows through Astana, adding to its charm and providing opportunities for
recreational activities like boating and fishing. The city is also home to a number of cultural and historical sites, including the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation and the Hazret Sultan Mosque, which showcase the rich heritage of the region.
Astana is known for its vibrant cultural scene, hosting various events and festivals throughout the year. The EXPO exhibition, held in 2017, attracted millions of visitors from around the world and showcased innovative ideas and technologies. The city also hosts international sporting events like the Astana Marathon and the Astana Open Tennis Tournament.
With its dynamic atmosphere, modern infrastructure, and rich cultural heritage, Astana is a city that truly captivates the imagination of all who visit.
Entry into Kazakhstan is visa-free for many countries. However, if your country requires a visa, each competing nation is responsible for arranging for the necessary visas for their delegation. Where required the LOC will issue a letter of invitation to participating nations.

Note: Remember that visa request may need a long time especially for some countries, so please send as soon as you can the names and data of the people that will come to Kazakhstan so that we can prepare the invitation letter.
Delegations will be accommodated in different hotels near the competition venue. The hotels will be located in Astana. The organizers will plan the transportation of the teams between hotels and the competition venue for trainings and competition days.
II1 – Athletes with an intellectual disability;
II2 – Athletes with an intellectual disability and signiOicant additional impairment;
II3 – Athletes with autism.
All athletes entering the event must appear as “Active” on the Virtus Master List no later than the final entry deadline.
Applications for new athletes must be submitted to Virtus as soon as possible.
Athletes who do not meet the qualifying criteria or do not appear on the Virtus Master List as “Active” are not eligible for this event.
There is no guest entry.

According to the rules of Virtus, the competition is opened to the following Virtus categories:
These championships are subject to doping control testing.
Any athlete requiring a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) has to send a TUE applications to the Virtus Anti-Doping Committee no less than 30 days before the competition to tue@virtus.sport.
These forms are available on the Virtus website.
English is the oficial language of Virtus events.
All materials and information will be available in english.
The opening ceremony will take place on Monday 5th May, a parade will take place between the competition site and the site of the opening ceremony at around 9 am (to be confirmed in the welcome guide sent out before the competition), the day before the start of the competition.

The closing ceremony will take place just after the awards ceremony on Saturday 10th May at the venue, or on Saturday evening during the gala ceremony.

Medals ceremonies will take place Saturday 10th May.

Tournament locations
The competition will be held in the new Tennis Center «Daulet», which has 8 indoor courts, the court surface is HARD, GreenSet. In February 2020, a modern tennis complex that meets all the requirements of the world standard was put into operation. Renowned tennis players Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic held the opening of the Tennis Center «Daulet».

The Medal ceremony for the Virtus 3x3 Basketball World Championship will take place on Sunday 15 June 2025.
The Medal ceremony for the Virtus 5x5 Basketball World Championship will take place on Sunday 22 June 2025.

The Closing Ceremony will take place after the final matches and medal ceremony on Sunday 22 June 2025 at the venue, or during the gala evening (to be confirmed).
1 February 2025: 1st Entry (entry by numbers; including Expression of Interest for two (2) Male and/or Female teams in 3x3 should numbers permit) + 30% fee
1 March 2025: 2nd Entry (entry by names and all details) + remaining 70% fee
